About Discreetly
Building tools to prevent image-based sexual abuse and protect personal privacy.
The Problem
Image-Based Sexual Abuse (IBSA) refers to the non-consensual creation, distribution, or threat to distribute intimate images. This includes "revenge porn," coerced image sharing, and deepfake pornography.
According to UK Government research, approximately 1 in 7 women in the UK have experienced threats to share intimate images without consent. The psychological impact on victims is severe, often leading to anxiety, depression, and social isolation.
Current legal frameworks, while improving, often leave victims struggling to prove non-consent after the fact. Prevention and clear documentation of consent boundaries are critical to addressing this issue effectively.
The Response
Discreetly was built in direct response to the growing prevalence of IBSA. The platform provides a simple, private way for individuals to document mutual agreements about the sharing and handling of sensitive media.
By creating a timestamped, digitally signed record of consent boundaries, Discreetly helps establish clear expectations between parties. In the event of a breach, these agreements serve as documented proof of the original terms—making it easier to demonstrate non-consent in legal or platform reporting contexts.
The goal is to raise the psychological and legal cost of violating someone's privacy, while giving individuals better tools to protect themselves proactively.
Mission
Discreetly's mission is to prevent image-based sexual abuse by empowering individuals with tools to document consent, establish clear boundaries, and protect their personal privacy in digital relationships.
Current Stage
Discreetly is currently at the MVP (Minimum Viable Product) stage. The core functionality—creating, signing, and storing private agreements—is live and available for use.
Additional features are planned for future releases, including enhanced agreement templates, improved sharing controls, and expanded documentation options.
Partnership Opportunities
Discreetly is actively seeking distribution partners to help reach individuals who could benefit from these privacy protection tools.
Potential partners include:
- Universities and educational institutions
- IBSA prevention and victim support organisations
- Journalists and media outlets covering digital safety
